Spice up your next Date Night!

Valentine's Day is just around the corner! I love the month of Febraury for 2 reasons! It gives everyone a chance to focus on LOVE (ow! ow!) and it involves my favorite color pink! What could go wrong! Honestly, I could easily just treat it like any other day because I don't think there should just be one day a year dedicated to showing appreciation to your significant other. But, I do think it's good to reflect why your significant other is so special to you. Reminders are always a good thing in my book! So, instead of showering each other with gifts, my husband and I use Valentines Day as an excuse to do a date night! Honestly, we try to do this at least once a month. To me, having that time together is so important to any relationship in order for it to grow. We do try to keep things spicy by mixing up our date nights! I think it's fun to do new and exciting things together.

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I created a list of unique date ideas!
What do you have planned for the holiday?

We have actually done most of the ideas listed above so if you'd like any more detail, let me know! The 'Read a Book Together' is more fun than it sounds! We actually went to a bookstore and headed our separate ways to choose a book that we thought the other one would like! We then took turns reading the books together.

My husband created a scavenger hunt for my birthday! He hide clues all around our house that had cute little riddles and sweet words leading me to my present! If you want to get really creative, you could lead your significant other all around town for a fun night out! If you don't have the time to do your own scavenger hunt, another alternative to this would be geocaching.

We have also done a 'Fiesta Night' were we made enchiladas, guacamole, margaritas, and cake (with a cinco de mayo theme of course) and watched the movie, "Mexican". Simple but different!

I know taking a class together can get expensive. But, that's why I subscribe to livingsocial and groupon. I get daily emails from both and have found some great deals! We've done a couple Beer and Wine Tastings through different offers we've received!

Anyway, I hope that helps give you a couple ideas to help spice up your relationship! I'd love to hear any other suggestions you might have!

  1. Great ideas! I agree that the feelings behind Valentine's Day should be expressed every day, but I think there is a lot of ridiculous hatred and spite for this holiday.

  3. I'm a new follower and I love, love, love these ideas! My husband and I spent our fourth dating anniversary at the same location as our first date! It was awesome! I'd like to try the "take a class together" but Mr. Collier might not be up for that entirely.
    Cheers,

  12. Hi Melissa! I just found your blog through For Lauren and Lauren and am a new follower! Thanks for sharing these date ideas! I love the idea of volunteering at an animal shelter together, that would be sweet and fun. I agree, I think that showing love to your hubby shouldn't be just on Valentine's but it is a good time to reflect on your relationship and do something sweet for one another. I'd love it if you checked out my blog as well!
